Do I Have The Full Picture?

Do I have the full picture? No. Absolutely not. I do not have the full picture. I will never have the full picture. I am a caucasian woman so I will never be able to understand everything a person of color has to go through in our school system. Meaning in education, sports, friendships, careers, etc. It is extremely hard to gather and discuss everything that goes on in today's society.

I did not know half of the things about the Native American history until I went through our module. History classes in our school system needs to change. They need to change the way they lesson plan and go about teaching all cultures and all ethnical histories. History is the past, present, and the future of our lives, we all walk with our history every day and it is hard to keep everyone's history relevant and known when it is not taught properly or treated as important as other history topics are. As soon-to-be teachers we need to learn from each other, about each other, FOR each other. Our world is changing day by day and in our generation it is imperative that we keep everything that goes on in our world alive and known, especially when teaching our students history. Students of all color, religion, ethnicity, etc. deserve the same amount of education as anyone else. And they most definitely deserve the right to learn the details and hardships about their own cultures.
